Abstract painter and textile artist, Taylor Binda lives and works on the north Sshore of Maui. Raised in south Boston “southie” Massachusetts, Binda was always coloring out of the lines. At eighteen, she headed out west to Los Angeles, California - earning her degree from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. After graduating, she apprenticed with painter Danuta Rothschild in Santa Monica. Simultaneously, Binda worked in film+TV development & on set in the art department for various productions. From there, Binda continued developing her voice and visual storytelling working with companies including Free People, CP Shades, and Wings Hawai’i.
Her body of work includes abstract painting, installation artwork and fiber art, from block printing to botanical dyeing. her paintings are included in private collections from San Francisco to Cape Cod & abroad. Recently, Binda was commissioned to create a large collection of paintings to adorn a private yacht off the coast of Italy. her paintings are shown at Art Project Paia, Polu Gallery, and Pau Gallery. Binda exhibits & teaches workshops at Hui No’eau Visual Arts Center.
